3 Doors Down cancel a set of upcoming tour dates after bass player Todd Harrell’s recent arrest

3 Doors Down have canceled a handful of tour dates from their itinerary following the arrest of bass player Robert Todd Harrell on a charge of vehicular homicide. Harrell was involved in a car accident in Tennessee that resulted in the death of Paul Howard Shoulders Jr.

“Out of respect to Paul Howard Shoulders, Jr., and his family, 3 Doors Down has cancelled the band’s four scheduled U.S. April / May appearances,” the band’s rep said in an official statement. “They will resume touring May 31 in Moscow, and return to the U.S. for scheduled dates in July.”

As for Harrell’s charges, according to Reuters, the musician was driving his Cadillac CTS at a high speed on the interstate when he clipped the bumper of a pickup truck, resulting in the truck tipping over. Police said Harrell admitted to drinking some hard cider that evening and taking the prescription painkiller Lortab and anxiety drug Xanax. He was taken to Nashville’s Metro Jail and police found a plastic baggie hidden in his sock with eight additional Xanax pills, 24 Oxycodone pills and four Oxymorphone pills. Harrell’s bond was set at $100,000.
