Skillet Premiere ‘Not Gonna Die’ off Upcoming New Album, ‘Rise’
Christian rockers Skillet release their new album, ‘Rise,’ on June 25
Skillet are on target to release their new full-length, “Rise,” on June 25. In advance of the upcoming ninth studio album, the Christian rock group has posted a stream of the tune “Not Gonna Die” online, which can be heard via USA Today.
When asked about “Rise,” singer and bass player John Cooper said the song sounds a lot like what fans will hear on the new album. “It feels like, to me, what the normal Skillet fan is hoping the album sounds like,” Cooper told the publication. “It’s very dramatic, but it’s also inspiring. It’s a song that basically refusing to give up on finding that hope and taking that control of your life, even if it feels like you’re losing the fight.”
Skillet is on tap to perform on the 2013 Carnival of Madness Tour this summer, which sets off on Aug. 13 at the Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica in Cleveland, Ohio. Shinedown, Papa Roach, In This Moment and We as Human are also set to appear on the trek. For more on the upcoming tour, head to the festival’s official website.
