Red Hot Chili Peppers and Neil Young to Play Silverlake Conservatory of Music Benefit
Benefit concert for Silverlake Conservatory of Music will feature performances by Red Hot Chili Peppers and Neil Young
Red Hot Chili Peppers and Neil Young are teaming up for a benefit show Oct. 30 in Los Angeles to raise funds for the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, the nonprofit music school Red Hot Chili Peppers (and Atoms for Peace) bass player Flea started in 2001. Flea and Peppers singer Anthony Kiedis will co-host the night. Funds raised will help purchase a permanent building for the school and to aid the school’s scholarship program.
“Going into our 13th year of the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, flourishing with 700 students as a nonprofit community music school, I could not be more grateful for all the people who have helped us out along the way,” Flea said in a statement. “Having one of my favorite musicians Neil Young perform to help out the school is the greatest blessing!”
On top of the live music, the evening will include dinner and a silent auction offering pieces donated by Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, the Strokes, Rancid frontman Tim Armstrong, director Gus Van Zant, artist Shepard Fairey, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Los Angeles Lakers and more.
Tickets for the event cost a minimum donation of $2,000 each. For more information, head to the Silver Lake Conservatory website.
