‘If I Had the Time (I Could Change the World)’ single will benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital

A collection of rockers have teamed up to work on a special collaboration track to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The project, spearheaded by former Alice Cooper and Lou Reed guitarist Dick Wagner, features the handful of artists appearing on a single, similar to the classic “We Are the World” collaboration.

Wagner wrote and produced the song, titled “If I Had the Time (I Could Change the World).” The tune, which also features former Grand Funk Railroad singer Mark Farner and Cars guitarist Elliot Easton, is available now via iTunes, Amazon.com and CDBaby.com.

“‘If I Had the Time (I Could Change the World)’ reflects the notion that we can do something positive to help change lives,” Wagner said in a statement. “The children are the purpose of this song, and everyone who participates in this recording gives a little of themselves.

“It’s a great honor for me to work with such diversified and talented people, toward helping the children at St. Jude. So we all come together, and in the words of Quincy Jones at the ‘We Are the World’ sessions, we leave our ‘egos at the door.'”

Other musicians who appear on the single include original Chicago drummer Danny Seraphine, the Angels, Sal Valentino of Beau Brummels, Merilee Rush, Trini Lopez, members of Vanilla Fudge, former Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer Artimus Pyle and Knack bass player Prescott Niles. A clip of the artists recording the single at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles is up at St. Jude’s official YouTube channel.
