The Killers Ready Holiday Single, ‘Christmas in L.A.’
The Killers will release their annual holiday single to benefit (RED) on Dec. 2
The Killers may be taking a break, but the Las Vegas-based band is making good on its annual tradition of releasing a holiday single in support of the (RED) campaign that fights HIV/AIDS in Africa. Now, the group has announced the title of the new track and release date, and it’s coming out soon.
According to frontman Brandon Flowers, the year’s song is called “Christmas in L.A.” and will be available at all of the usual digital outlets on Monday (Dec. 2.). An added twist this year is that the song will feature some guests.
“The song’s about a struggling actor in L.A. who misses the traditional Christmas,” Flowers told the U.K.’s Metro. “We got Owen Wilson to do the video, and there are cameos from Harry Dean Stanton and an animated Warren Zevon, which is badass. I’m so excited about it — talk about the stars aligning.”
In the same interview, Flowers hinted at a solo album to arrive in 2014, but insisted that the Killers are at the forefront of his mind. “I think we understand the strengths we have as a band,” he said. “We’re a real unit and I just think we’re strong live. That’s what we were trying to achieve with Battle Born.’ He looks uneasy again. ‘Sometimes ambition is perceived as an ugly thing.”
