Slipknot Saying ‘Goodbye’ to Drummer Joey Jordison
Founding drummer Joey Jordison is out of Slipknot
Slipknot is drummer-less. The metal guys have announced they won’t be continuing on with longstanding drummer Joey Jordison in the fold. Jordison is currently on the road in the U.K. in support of his side band Scar the Martyr, so perhaps the announcement isn’t too shocking.
“It is with great pain but quiet respect that, for personal reasons, Joey Jordison and Slipknot are parting ways,” the band said in a statement on the group’s official website. “We all wish Joey the best in whatever his future holds. We understand that many of you will want to know how and why this has come to be, and we will do our best to respond to these questions in the near future.”
Even with Jordison out of the band, Slipknot say they’re still hard at work on their follow-up to 2008’s “All Hope Is Gone” and expect to release the new tunes next year. The upcoming album will also be Slipknot’s first without founding bassist Paul Gray, who passed away in 2010. No word yet on who will replace Jordison on drums.
