3 Doors Down Bass Player Todd Harrell Suspended Indefinitely Following DUI Charge
Todd Harrell suspended indefinitely by 3 Doors Down
3 Doors Down founding member and bass player Todd Harrell was arrested Tuesday (Feb. 19) on a DUI charge, and the band has issued a statement regarding the arrest and plans for going forward.
“According to accounts in the press yesterday, a long-time member of 3 Doors Down, Todd Harrell, has been arrested in Mississippi in a drug related DUI charge,” the band says in the statement. “Last summer, Todd was suspended from the band and not allowed to participate in any 3 Doors Down performances, pending the resolution of criminal charges filed against him last year in connection with an automobile accident. Following yesterday’s incident, the band has extended Todd’s suspension indefinitely.”
The statement concludes, “We take this action to protect the image and integrity of the band and to encourage Todd to address and resolve his problems.”
Officers on Tuesday responding to a call about an impaired driver found Harrell flopped over the steering wheel of his car, according to Mississippi’s The Sun Herald. Harrell was charged with a second-offense DUI concerning a substance other than alcohol. He was released from the D’Iberville Police Department after posting a cash bond of $1,789. His hearing is scheduled for March 24.
Harrell already has one DUI for driving under the influence of prescription drugs in July of 2012. Harrell was also charged for vehicular manslaughter in the Nashville, Tenn., for driving while impaired in an accident that caused the death of another driver in April of 2013. He has yet to stand trial for the latter case.
