Smashing Pumpkins to Release Two New Albums in 2015

Alternative rockers Smashing Pumpkins back with new label, two new albums on the way

Billy Corgan and the Smashing Pumpkins last released a studio album in 2012 with “Oceania.” Now, the crew have confirmed that new music is ahead in the form of not one, but two Smashing Pumpkins albums, both slated to arrive in 2015.

In a message posted Tuesday (March 25) on the Smashing Pumpkins’ official website, Corgan stated that the band has just signed a deal with BMG that will see the release of two Smashing Pumpkins, “Monuments to an Elegy” and “Day for Night.”

“For those interested in sound, think: ‘guitars, guitars, guitars, and more guitars,’” Corgan stated, “but more so on the epic side of things than say, grossly metallic.”

Corgan went on to state that recording sessions for the new album “begin today, as plenty of songs have been written and ready to go.” Producer Howard Willing will be working with Smashing Pumpkins, the same man behind the band’s “Adore” album.

Corgan also stated to expect a new single out by the end of the year.

Fans will be able to following the recording process of the new album, too, on the Smashing Pumpkins’ new website, The Panopticon. Corgan promises “a continuing feature, items regarding each day’s recording will be shared that same evening, with song titles, lyrics, poetic impressions, pictures, sound clips, studio gear and the like offered for a circuitous, bird’s eye view of the process as it unfolds.”
