Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne and Miley Cyrus Finish Recording Two Beatles Tunes
Wayne Coyne from the Flaming Lips and Miley Cyrus are finished recording two classic Beatles songs
Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne and pop starlet Miley Cyrus have finishing recording two cover tunes by legendary rock group the Beatles. Last month, Coyne posted a message on his Instagram account hinting he and Cyrus were recording a version of “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.” Now, Coyne has taken to Instagram again, this time posting a video clip of a computer screen with a wave file showing and the sound of Cyrus crooning part of the Beatles tune “A Day in the Life.”
Coyne captioned the new video clip with the following text:
“Woke up ..fell out of bed.. dragged a comb across my head.. Yep!!!! @mileycyrus singing the Paul McCartney bit on A Day In The Life!!!!! Yesss!! Thanks @NewFumes Almost done mixin !! Gon beeee rad!!!!! If ya love The Beatles and John Lennon you gonna love this!!!”
In other Flaming Lips news, the guys are currently getting ready to headline The Hudson Project, a new three-day festival set for July 11-13 in Saugerties, N.Y., along with Modest Mouse and Capital Cities.
The Flaming Lips are also releasing a special vinyl 7″ with Devo for Record Store Day, as part of WMG’s “Side By Side Series,” which features Devo’s “Gates of Steel” and a previously unreleased cover of the song by the Flaming Lips. Record Store Day is this Saturday (April 19).
