Soundgarden to Kick Off NFL’s New Season
Soundgarden will perform outside of Seattle’s CenturyLink Field before the Seattle Seahawks’ NFL season opener
Chris Cornell and the guys of Soundgarden will help the NFL ring in the latest pro football season this fall. The NFL has announced that the Seattle grunge greats will perform live outside of Seattle’s CenturyLink Field before the season opener between the Seattle Seahawks, last year’s Super Bowl champions, and the Green Bay Packers. The show will take place on Sept. 4.
Fans will be able to watch Soundgarden’s set during the NFL Network’s pregame coverage on NBC. Pharrell Williams is also slated to appear on the pregame airing. The football game will follow the telecast on NBC that night.
In other news, Soundgarden are currently touring North America alongside Nine Inch Nails. Although it’s a co-headlining tour, Nine Inch Nails are closing out all the shows, due to the band’s production-heavy show, complete with lights and lasers. The tour is scheduled to close out Aug. 25 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Soundgarden are also celebrating the 20th anniversary of their seminal “Superunknown” album this year and performing tracks off the release on tour.
