Royal Blood Start Work on New Album
U.K. rock duo Royal Blood are currently working on their sophomore album
When Royal Blood performed at this year’s Reading festival in England, the rock duo debuted a new track called “Hook, Line and Sinker.” As it turns out, that song is slated to arrive on the group’s sophomore album, which is currently in the works.
“The writing process (for the album) really has just begun,” frontman Mike Kerr told Gigwise. “Maybe (‘Hook, Line and Sinker’ is) like, the weirdest song on the record, I don’t know yet. It’s not written, so it’s hard to say.”
Royal Blood aren’t big on writing on the road, and they wrote “Hook, Line and Sinker” a few months before their Reading performance. While the duo did write a little on tour, they’re really getting into the writing and recording process now that they’re off tour and back home.
“I found writing on the road a little stale,” Kerr said. “It’s not a very inspiring place really to write, because we’re there to tour, and we’re there to gig and we’re there to focus on the show. Already having been back home, I think that it’s proof that we much prefer doing it that way.”
Royal Blood closed out their North American headlining tour behind their 2014 self-titled album this month. The guys also had the honor of opening for Foo Fighters on the band’s summer North American tour.
