Watch Disturbed’s ‘Sound of Silence’ in virtual reality

Earlier this year, Disturbed – which includes David Draiman, (vocals), Dan Donegan (guitar), Mike Wengren (drums) and John Moyer (bass) – released their cover of the Simon & Garfunkel song “The Sound of Silence” as a single, and it was a crossover it. Suddenly, the guys were on the late-night TV circuit and attracting fans who had never heard of the longtime metal band. Now, the guys of Disturbed have unleashed a new, 360-degree video for their cover of “The Sound of Silence,” which is available via the VR app Littlstar.

The virtual reality video, which was directed by Matt Mahurin, gets moody with special attention to the themes of dystopia, technology and isolation.

“It was a thrill and a challenge (and maybe a bit ironic) to use the innovative and immersive world of VR to explore the disconnect of direct human connection that results from the addictive world of social media,” Mahurin said in a statement.

“The Sound of Silence” arrived on Disturbed’s latest studio album, 2015’s “Immortalized.” The music video for the song, which Mahurin also directed, has reached a whopping 125 million-plus views on the band’s official YouTube page.

“Immortalized” marked Disturbed’s follow-up to 2010’s “Asylum.”
