Hear Soundgarden and the Rolling Stones, piano-style

Rock music can sound pretty awesome when it’s stripped-down for piano, something proven by the debut season of HBO’s sci-fi Western series “Westworld.” The show has featured saloon-inspired piano renditions of a handful of famous rock tunes, including Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun” and the Rolling Stones’ “Paint It, Black.”

Now, many of those piano-style cover songs are available for purchase via the new “Westworld: Season 1” EP, which is out on iTunes.

In addition to the Soundgarden and Rolling Stones covers, the EP also includes piano versions of Radiohead’s “No Surprises” and the Cure’s “A Forest.” The main title theme for “Westworld” is also included on the EP.

Ramin Djawadi, who penned the “Game of Thrones” opening theme music, arranged the covers.

Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell is a fan of the piano version of “Black Hole Sun.” He told Billboard that the cover “”perfectly fits the mood of the scene, and reveals a duality that has always existed in the song.”

‘Westworld: Season 1’ EP Track List:

“Main Title Theme — Westworld”
“Black Hole Sun”
“Paint It, Black”
“No Surprises”
“A Forest”
