New music from Foo Fighters is in the works, according to BottleRock’s festival producer

Foo Fighters unleashed some major news this week when they announced their first U.S. appearance of 2017: a headlining slot at the BottleRock Napa Valley festival in Napa, California. While fans have been speculating the band will hit the road hard in 2017, it looks like the opposite might be true—but for a good reason.

Dave Graham, CEO of Latitude 38 Entertainment — the company putting on BottleRock Napa Valley — says BottleRock may be the only U.S. gig for Dave Grohl and the Foos this year. Why? The guys are working on new music, he says.

“The Foo Fighters are in the studio all next year recording a new album and BottleRock may be their only show in 2017 in North America,” Graham told the Napa Valley Register, with “next year” referring to 2017.

If Graham is correct, then the Foos will be working on their follow-up to 2014’s “Sonic Highways,” which arrived with a special HBO series that followed the guys during the making of the album.

Foo Fighters are currently booked to perform at BottleRock Napa Valley festival, set for May 26 through 28, as well as a handful of European summer festivals. They’ll also perform at the MusiCares Person of the Year gala to pay tribute to Tom Petty, which will take place Feb. 10 in Los Angeles.
