Dragonforce Talks Bataclan-Inspired ‘Reaching into Infinity,’ Releases ‘Midnight Madness’ Video
Exclusive: Frederic Leclercq of Dragonforce was changed by the Bataclan terror attacks
Metal titans Dragonforce have released the new music video for their track “Midnight Madness,” which appears on the band’s latest studio album, “Reaching into Infinity.”
The album marks the group’s follow-up to 2014’s “Maximum Overload” and their third full set with singer Marc Hudson in the fold. Watch the music video below.
Frederic Leclercq, who had a major hand in the songwriting for the album, spoke with Anne from Audio Ink Radio about the meaning behind the album’s title, “Reaching into Infinity.” As it turns out, it has a serious genesis.
“The title came last,” Leclercq said. “We were discussing about the world…I lost a friend at the (terror attacks in) Bataclan, so I keep an eye more than ever on the news. I used to not care so much, but I feel forced to now, and what we need to give people is escapism through our music. The power of music is infinite. I was recently at the Bataclan – I hadn’t been there since what happened – and after a few minutes, I was able to enjoy the music and get into it, you know?”
“Well, that is the power of music,” he added. “So, we want people to escape and reach into infinity—a journey. I thought it would be nice to call the intro of the album, ‘Reaching into Infinity.’ In a way, what I’ve done with Sinsaenum is similar in that sense and that sense only: to try and take people on a journey.”
