Cranberries Singer Dolores O’Riordan Passes Away at 46
Cranberries lead vocalist Dolores O’Riordan has passed away at the age of 46. In an official statement, her publicist stated that her family is “devastated to hear the breaking news” and also asking for privacy “at this very difficult time,” which is understandable. “Irish and international singer Dolores O’Riordan has died suddenly in London today,” the statement continues. “She was 46 years old. The lead singer with the Irish band the Cranberries, was in London for a short recording session. No further details are available at this time.”
Since becoming a member of alternative rockers the Cranberries in 1990, O’Riordan has sold millions of albums with the band and performed around the world. The band rose to stardom with the 1994 anthem, “Zombie.” The Cranberries broke up in 2003 and reformed in 2009.
O’Riordan was in London to do some recording. Her most recent work was recording the theme song for the animated short movie “Angela’s Christmas,” which aired on Christmas Eve. She is survived by her ex-husband Don Burton and by her three children, Taylor Baxter, Molly Leigh and Dakota Rain.
