Pearl Jam’s new album may not arrive as soon as expected

Pearl Jam recently unleashed a new single, “Can’t Deny Me,” and in the same breath, confirmed that the group’s new album was on the way. In fact, “Can’t Deny Me” was billed as a song that would appear on Pearl Jam’s upcoming, 11th studio album. While that news got Pearl Jam fans stoked, now, it looks like the new album won’t hit fans’ ears for quite a while.

“I’m not sure where we’re at, I’m not sure where the band’s at,” bass player Jeff Ament told NME when asked about the status of the new album. “Things got busy with tour dates and that sort of stuff… I wish I had an update for you.”

Whenever it arrives, the new album from Pearl Jam will mark the band’s follow-up to 2013’s “Lightning Bolt.” In the meantime, Ament has been working on a new solo album. That set, named “Heaven/Hell,” will arrive on May 10 and features appearances from some familiar names: Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready and Matt Cameron. Cameron also recently released a solo set, “Cavedweller,” which arrived in September of 2017.

In other news, Pearl Jam has a handful of tour dates on the way. The band will head overseas for a European headlining tour this summer, and the guys will be back in the U.S. for a short tour of baseball stadiums in August.
