Dan Reynolds forged through an illness during his Houston show with some help from fans

Imagine Dragons had a very special concert in Houston, Texas, last weekend that started with a frightening moment but turned out heart-warmingly good.

Frontman Dan Reynolds, As reported by the Houston Chronicle, had a difficult time singing because of dealing with an illness, so he turned to fans to ask them to sing for him. As the set went on, Reynolds described the stories behind each song and he went from one track to another.

“Houston I’m so sorry for tonight,” Reynolds tweeted out last weekend. “I thought I could sing through the sickness but I could not. And you sang for me. Thank you (with) all my heart.”

Then, looking to a concert scheduled in New Orleans the next day, Reynolds went to a doctor, who explained to him that one of his vocal cords wasn’t moving for an “unknown reason.”

“I literally thought my career was over,” Reynolds tweeted. “(The doctor) said it could be stress related but didn’t know.”

Even with the doctor’s warning, Reynolds decided to go ahead with the New Orleans concert. As he walked on the stage, he was greeted with a very welcome surprise.

“My vocal cord vibrated & I could sing again and I feel so happy I could cry forever,” he stated

Imagine Dragons’ tour is scheduled to wrap up tonight (Aug. 7) in Orange Beach, Alabama. The group is touring in support of their new album, “Evolve,” which includes the hit singles “Believer,” “Thunder” and “Whatever It Takes.”
