Tool Debuts at No. 1 on the ‘Billboard’ 200 with ‘Fear Inoculum’

Tool has a No. 1 album on their hands with ‘Fear Inoculum,’ pushing Taylor Swift out of the top spot on the chart

Fans had to wait more than a decade to get music for Tool, and now, they’re welcoming the band back with a major chart debut. Tool’s “Fear Inoculum,” the group’s first album in 13 years, has debuted at No. 1 on the “Billboard” 200 chart. That’s for all genres of music, from pop to country to rock.

“Fear Inoculum” arrived on Aug. 30 and pushed 270,000 equivalent units its first week, reports Nielsen Music via Billboard. Of those album equivalents, 248,000 were physical album sales.

“Fear Inoculum” puts rock back in the No. 1 spot on the chart in the U.S. for the first time since Dave Matthews Band released “Come Tomorrow.” That record pushed 292,000 equivalent units for the week of June 23, 2018.

Along with the new tunes comes new tour dates for Tool. The band will hit the road on a major North American tour in support of “Fear Inoculum” starting with an Oct. 13 date in Sacramento, California, at Aftershock Festival. Find the full roster of tour dates here.

Last week, pop star Taylor Swift took the No. 1 spot on the “Billboard” 200 chart, but thanks to Tool, her new album, “Swift’s Lover,” fell to No. 2 on the chart, pushing 178,000 album units.

“Fear Inoculum” marks Tool’s third No. 1 album, the others being 2006’s “10,000 Days” and 2001’s “Lateralus.”
