Metallica is encouraging fans to give to coronavirus-related charities amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic with their new “Month of Giving” campaign

Metallica is kicking off a “Month of Giving” charity campaign via the metal band’s All Within My Hands Foundation, which will put the spotlight on different charities each week during the month of May.

The “Month of Giving” was inspired by the #GivingTuesdayNow initiative, which asks people to give to charity and engage in charitable activities now, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, instead of waiting for Giving Tuesday, which falls the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and Black Friday.

“Rather than focusing on one campaign, every Tuesday throughout May we will spotlight a different organization we are supporting through our grants for COVID-19 relief,” Metallica said in a statement.

“Each week we will share with you what these organizations do, show you how you can chip in, and Metallica will donate proceeds from select merchandise to each organization,” they added.

The first charity Metallica is highlighting is Feeding America, which partners with food banks around the United States. Up ahead, the band will support Crew Nation, Live Nation’s program to provide relief to touring and venue crews; the United States Bartenders Guild Foundation, which benefits bar workers and those in the service industries; and Direct Relief, which helps medical professionals and first responders across the U.S.

Metallica previously announced that they were donating $350,000 to four different COVID-19 charities.
