Greta Van Fleet Detail New Album, ‘The Battle at Garden’s Gate’
Greta Van Fleet will release their sophomore studio album, “The Battle at Garden’s Gate,” in April 2021
Greta Van Fleet have revealed the details of their sophomore studio album. The upcoming set will be called “The Battle at Garden’s Gate” and hit stores on April 16, 2021. The new album will feature the previously released single “My Way, Soon,” plus a meaty, seven-minute song called “Age of Machine,” which is available now via digital outlets and can be heard below.
“The Battle at Garden’s Gate” marks Greta Van Fleet’s follow-up to their popular 2018 debut album, “Anthem of the Peaceful Army.” The latter featured the chart-topping rock singles “When the Curtain Falls,” “You’re the One” and “Lover, Leaver.” Over the past few years since Greta Van Fleet came on the scene, they’ve been credited to starting a “rock revival,” thanks to their nostalgic sound that recalls the classic rock of Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones.
“We realized that while growing up, we had been shielded by many things, and we were unaware of a lot of things,” drummer Danny Wagner said in a release. “And then we were thrown out into this huge world, and it was a bit of a culture shock at first. But as we started to travel a lot, meet new and different people and experience different cultures, our definition of ‘normal’ changed.”
“I suppose that everything has changed except what got us here in the first place,” added bass player Sam Kiszka. “Everything — our perception of the world, perception of life itself, what it means to be an artist, what it means to be part of a beautiful, gorgeous society. We’ve gained a larger understanding of why we’re all here.”
Greg Kurstin, known for his work with Foo Fighters, produced “The Battle at Garden’s Gate” in Nashville. The band – which features Wagner, Kiszka, vocalist Josh Kiszka and guitarist Jake Kiszka – grew up in Frankinmuth, Michigan, and currently reside in Nashville, Tennessee.
