Avril Lavigne Announces New Album Details for ‘Love Sux’

Avril Lavigne will drop her new album, “Love Sux,” via Travis Barker of Blink-182’s DTA Records label

No, it’s not the early 2000s, but Avril Lavigne is back in a big way. The pop-punk star released a new single, the high-energy “Bite Me,” late last year, and now, Lavigne is back with a new record.

Avril Lavigne will drop her new studio album, “Love Sux,” on Feb. 25. The album will arrive on Travis Barker of Blink-182’s DTA Records label. In addition to the record announcement, Lavigne has dropped the second single off the album, “Love It When You Hate Me,” which can be streamed via YouTube below.

As for the new record, Lavigne says it will be packed with big names from the rock and alternative music worlds, including Mark Hoppus of Blink-182, Machine Gun Kelly and blackbear, the latter who appears on “Love It When You Hate Me.”

In the new track, Lavigne sings about the careless feeling of falling in love, not realizing that it might end in heartbreak. Who can’t relate to that? “And I ignore all the warning signs / Fall for you every time / Don’t call me baby / I love it when you hate me I know it’s crazy / I love it when you hate me / The highs the lows / The yes, the no’s / You’re so hot when you get cold,” Lavigne sings in the song’s lyrics.

Lavigne previously talked about her relationship with Travis Barker, stating, “The first time we worked together was 15 years ago on my album ‘The Best Damn Thing,’ and I have really enjoyed watching him develop into the producer that he is today. We spent a lot of time writing songs and working on this record together, and signing to his record label, DTA felt like the perfect home for me and my new music. Travis understands my vision as a musician, my creative process as an artist, and my goals at this stage of my career.”
