Slipknot’s ‘The End, So Far’ Makes Impressive Chart Debut

Corey Taylor and Slipknot have entered the Billboard 200 chart at No. 2 with their latest album, “The End, So Far”

Slipknot are back with a new album, “The End, So Far,” and the set has debuted inside Billboard’s Top 10 albums chart. The latest effort from Corey Taylor and the crew entered the chart at a sky-high No. 2, according to Billboard, only coming in behind Bad Bunny’s massive “Un Verano Sin Ti,” which has been No. 1 on the Billboard albums chart for 13 non-consecutive weeks. In other words, Slipknot did about as well as anyone could hope for, considering they were up against Bad Bunny, one of the year’s hottest artists with an album that just won’t go away. In addition, the album has taken the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Artist 100 chart.

“The End, So Far” features three early singles – “The Chapeltown Rag,” “The Dying Song (Time to Sing)” and “Yen” – as well as a handful of other original songs. The set pushed 59,000 equivalent album units its first week out, with album sales making up 50,500 of that tally. This isn’t Slipknot’s first chart-topping set, of course. In fact, “The End, So Far” marks the group’s sixth Top 10-charting album ever.

According to Billboard, the new numbers also mark both the highest-charting hard rock album on the Billboard 200 and the biggest week by units earned for a hard rock set in roughly seven months. The last hard rock album to do that was was Ghost’s “Impera,” which debuted at No. 2 with 70,000 units last spring.

Slipknot’s albums have all done well on the chart, including “All Hope Is Gone,” “.5: The Gray Chapter” and “We Are Not Your Kind” and “Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses” and “Iowa.” The latter two albums both made their way inside the top five. The band’s self-titled debut was the only record to not make it inside the Top 10; instead, that record topped at No. 51 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart.
