Sum 41 Announce Farewell Tour, Including Final Show
Sum 41 are saying goodbye in a big way. The Canadian punk bad has announced their final North American concerts and even their final show. It’s crazy to think about a Sum 41 farewell show, because they’re so much younger than artists such as Kiss or Slayer who have said goodbye. But, when it’s time, it’s time.
The global tour, called “The Tour of the Setting Sum,” will keep the guys touring for much of 2024. The tour roster includes a pair or spring and fall US legs, and The Interrupters will open on both legs.
The spring tour will begin April 19 in Omaha, Nebraska, and run through a May 19 date in Norfolk, Virginia. Then, Sum 41 will head to Europe for a tour and come back to the US on Sept. 4 for an opening date in San Francisco, California. The final fall US leg will end on Oct. 5 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Then, Sum 41’s final show ever will take place on Jan. 30, 2025, in Toronto, Canada.
Sum 41 first announced their breakup in 2023. They announced the farewell tour, without mentioning dates, and also announced their final album together as a band, a 20-track double album called “Heaven :x: Hell,” out on March 29. The double album features a pop-punk “Heaven” disc and a heavy metal “Hell” disc.
“Once I heard the music, I was confident enough to say, ‘This is the record I’d like to go out on,'” frontman Deryck Whibley said in a statement regarding the new album. “We’ve made a double album of pop punk and metal, and it makes sense. It took a long time for us to pave this lane for ourselves, but we did, and it’s unique to us.”
A Live Nation ticket pre-sale for all the Sum 41 farewell tour dates starts Wednesday (Jan. 17) at 10 a.m. local time using the code SPOTLIGHT. General ticket sales start Friday (Jan. 19) at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster.
