Iggy Pop, The Original Misfits and More Top 2024 No Values Lineup
Every year, it seems like another music festival gets launched. Not that I’m complaining. The more music festivals, the better, in my opinion, especially when they are rock or metal music festivals. Now, there’s a new festival launching that’s actually going to feature the best in punk. I love this, since there really aren’t enough punk-based festivals in the U.S. right now. Let’s get into the inaugural 2024 No Values lineup.
The new festival is called No Values. Is it a take on the Family Values tour of the late-1990s and early-2000s? Probably not, considering the lineup is very different from the nu-metal and post-grunge of that tour, but it’s worth pointing out the name similarity. The lineup for No Values will feature a bevy of huge punk acts, including The Original Misfits, Iggy Pop, Turnstile, Social Distortion, Sublime and Power Trip reunions and more. The one-day festival will take place June 8 at the Pomona Fairplex in California. It’s being put on by Coachella promoter Goldenvoice.
Looking at the rest of the lineup for No Values, it’s pretty much all punk and hardcore, and that’s a beautiful thing. The event will also feature performances from the legendary Bad Religion, The Damned, Vandals, Black Flag, TSOL, Joyce Manor, Jesus Lizard, Suicidal Tendencies and more. Ticket prices begin at $199 and go on sale this Friday (Feb. 23) at 11 a.m. PT via the event’s official site. Other acts slated to perform include L7, Viagra Boys, Ceremony, Exploited, FEAR, The Adicts, The Dickies, Fishbone, The Dead Milkmen, Cro-Mags, Soul Glo and more. Also, original Dead Kennedys frontman Jello Biafra DJ the event. Wow. What a plethora of classic punk and hardcore acts. View the full lineup via the festival’s official website.
For Texas thrash band Power Trip, this event marks the band’s first reunion show since the sad passing of vocalist Riley Gale. Another interesting reunion on tap is The Dillinger Escape Plan. They parted ways in 2017, but recently announced a few reunion shows with original singer Dimitri Minakakis. I’m happy to see The Dillinger Escape Plan back together. But, at this point, I’m never going to believe it when a band says they’re breaking up. I’m looking at you, Sum-41.
Audio Ink Radio recently named headliner Iggy Pop the punk artist with the best punk song of all time. The song with the honors is 1977’s “Lust for Life.” Of the track, Audio Ink Radio stated, “Selecting a song to top our list of the best punk songs of all time was a difficult task. While many might credit the aforementioned ‘Blitzkrieg Bop’ or ‘London Calling’ with that honor, we truly think it’s ‘Lust for Life’ by Iggy Pop. This song bleeds from Pop’s personal experiences and heart. In it, he sings about his experiences with drugs and rock, amid huge rhythms and gut-hitting bass. It’s raw, real and pure. For that, Iggy Pop with ‘Lust for Life’ is our No. 1 greatest punk song of all time.” Pop doesn’t play out too much anymore, so this will be a rare treat to see him at this festival.
