Tool Plotting Major Fall Tour

2023-02-01 Drummer Danny Carey says Tool are gearing up for a big fall tour Maynard James Keenan has been busy making music and touring with his band Puscifer as of late, but Tool fans will get their fix of live music soon. The longstanding prog-metal band have a “big tour” in the works for this fall, which will mark their first live shows since June 2022. The news comes from drummer Danny Carey, who talked about it while accepting an award from Drumeo. Carey who given the honor of Progressive Drummer of the Year by Drumeo. To accept the honors, he filmed an acceptance video, which you can watch below, from Tool’s rehearsal space in Hollywood, California. After thanking everyone for the award, he said, “I hope to see you out there on the road in 2023. We have a big tour coming in the fall, a few festivals in the summertime.” Of course, the “big touring coming in the fall” part ignited much speculation and excitement amongst Tool fans. Time will tell if new music comes paired with these new fresh dates, but various Tool band members have said the guys are working on new tracks. While a 2023 tour dates have yet to be revealed, Tool have been confirmed as headliners for two May festivals: Florida’s Welcome to Rockville and Ohio’s Sonic Temple. Tool are continuing to tour behind 2019’s “Fear Inoculum,” which marked the group’s first album in 13 years and was named one of Audio Ink Radio’s top albums of the decade. Tool’s latest US show was at the Bonnaroo festival in June 2022. Since then, Keenan has been out on the road with Puscifer. No word yet on what’s going on, if anything right now, with Keenan’s other band, A Perfect Circle.
