Watch: August Burns Red’s fierce new video for, ‘Empire’

Lancaster, Pa.-based metal-core boys August Burns Red have released the official music video for their latest single, “Empire,” and the footage features plenty of live performance shots with trembling effects. The song comes off the band’s latest album, Leveler, which dropped last summer. Watch the video, below!

Lead vocalist Jake Luhrs recently told The Resurgence that August Burns Red, a self-proclaimed Christian metal band, isn’t shy when it comes to professing their faith. “… Why can’t metal not be used for Jesus?” he asked. “Music was created by God. A musical style doesn’t have a soul so the style can’t be ‘Christian’ or ‘Satanic.’ Just because some people use music a certain way, doesn’t mean that it can’t be redeemed and used by God. I always tell people to read my lyrics and really look at my life. Bad trees bear bad fruit; good trees bear good fruit.”

He added that he stays grounded thanks to his band-mates. “I pray a lot, read the Bible, spend some quality time with my drummer who’s also a Christian, listen to Pastor Mark’s podcasts, and read a few good books as well,” he said.

August Burns Red recently announced an ambitious 2012 tour with fellow Christian metal guys Texas in July, as well as Silverstein, I the Breather and Letlive. The tour starts Jan. 13 in Sayreville, N.J. and continues through Nashville, Salt Lake City and more markets before wrapping March 3 in Philadelphia, Pa.
