Chevelle celebrate the release of, ‘Hats Off to the Bull,’ with a short tour

Melodic hard rock trio Chevelle have rolled out a sequence of North American tour dates in support of their forthcoming release, Hats Off to the Bull, which will run through mid-December. The jaunt officially begins tomorrow (Nov. 29) in the band’s hometown of Chicago and caps off Dec. 16 in Biloxi, Miss. Find a complete list of tour dates, below.

More hoopla surrounding the new album includes Chevelle performing on ABC TV’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday, Dec. 8, and the guys playing Los Angeles alternative rock station KROQ’s famed Almost Acoustic Christmas on Saturday, Dec. 10, alongside Blink-182, Incubus, Bush, Social Distortion, New Found Glory, Young the Giant and 311. Now, that’s a lot of rock.

On Hats Off to the Bull, Chevelle slapped down tracks with producer Joe Barresi (Queens of the Stone Age, Coheed and Cambria), and that makes for a new, darker sound in the chapter of Chevelle. “We’re evolving,” vocalist / guitarist Pete Loeffler said in a release. “The album is different, and it’s going to take some people by surprise.” The album’s first single, “Face to the Floor,” is currently No. 1 on the active rock chart, so it is apparent rock listeners are lapping up the band’s grinding, explosive sound. With that kind of early success, it looks like Hats Off to the Bull is on target to enjoy the same kind of victory as Chevelle’s previous five studio releases, which spawned eternal rock hits such as “The Red,” “Straight Jacket Fashion,” and “Jars.” (Courtesy photo via the Mitch Schneider Organization.)
