Alternative rockers Grouplove and Young the Giant pair up for a tour

Los Angeles-based indie rock band Grouplove are slowly but steadily creeping up the alternative rock chart with their neo-folk, dance-y anthem, “Colours.” Earlier this year, the guys (and gal) were cherry-picked to open for Florence + the Machine on the road, and they also co-headlined a U.S. tour with Foster the People. That’s not to mention stints at Lollapalooza, the Readings & Leeds festivals, Glastonbury and Outside Lands. Needless to say, it’s been a busy years for Grouplove.

Now, Grouplove have been picked to open for fellow alternative-minded rockers Young the Giant on their 2012 U.S. tour. The trek kicks off March 6 in Burlington, Vt., and continues through April 3 in in Salt Lake City. Find a full slate of tour dates, below. For individual ticket information, visit Grouplove’s official website.

Grouplove are currently on the road supporting their latest full-length, Never Trust a Happy Song. The set packs such boisterous, post-punk tracks as “Tongue Tied,” “Love Will Save Your Soul” and “Spun.” Fans of MGMT, Modest Mouse and Arcade Fire will find lots of appreciate on the release, from quirky-sounding passages to hippie-flavored cuts. Despite its title, Never Trust a Happy Song has a fairly “happy” vibe, with melodic vocals, peppy handclaps and clear guitars, keeping things experimental without moving into plain weird territory.

Young the Giant’s latest single, the sugary-sweet “Cough Syrup,” is currently No. 4 on the alternative rock radio chart. In addition to the below dates with Grouplove, Young the Giant are going out on a headlining tour with Walk the Moon, and find those tour dates by visiting the band’s official website. So much alternative music and so little time! Can you handle it?
