Tool Shows Sell Out in Hours
Popular prog-rock band can’t book shows fast enough to meet demand
When news broke that the men of Tool, indeed, would tour in 2012, Tool fans went into hysteria of the best kind. Still, nobody could have predicted just how quickly the band’s upcoming run would sell out. Within hours of band’s Jan. 24 date at Huntington Center in Toledo going on sale, Ticketmaster reported there were no more tickets available. The venue seats just 8,000, so it’s no wonder tickets sold out in a jiffy, but that sure leaves a lot of Toledo and Detroit-area fans without seats for the show.
In response to the quick sell-out of tickets for the prog-rock band’s Jan. 20 show at the Verizon Theatre in Grand Prairie, Texas, the band recently announced a second date Jan. 21 at the same venue. Not surprisingly, within hours of the sale of the second date, that show sold out, too. According to Ticketmaster, nearly all of the posted Tool shows have already sold out. (A few exceptions include Tool’s Jan. 18 show in Albuquerque, N.M. at Tingley Coliseum and the band’s Jan. 17 concert in Tucson, Ariz., at the Tucson Arena, which both still have a handful of tickets available.) In some cases, when pre-sale were available, tickets sold out before they even officially went on sale! Find an updated list of Tool’s 2012 shows, below.
Florida Tool fans: The guys just announced a show Feb. 7 at the New UCF Arena in Orlando, Fla., and tickets for that date go on sale Jan. 7.
After the Tool jaunt, always-prolific frontman Maynard James Keenan will start up on a 2012 tour with his electro-industrial, comedy-rock group, Puscifer. That band’s tour begins Feb. 23 in Austin, Texas, and closes out March 18 in Escondido, Calif. Find a list of Puscifer tour dates via this link.
