30 Seconds to Mars Say They Have No Plans to Split
30 Seconds to Mars: ‘We’ve never said this is “the end”‘
Since last year, alternative band 30 Seconds to Mars have fielded rumors of a possible split after their massive world tour. All fretting aside, this week, the guys have announced that they have no plans to break up anytime soon.
Chatting with Kerrang! Magazine, frontman Jared Leto explained, “We don’t know what the future has to hold, but we know we’re excited about it and this tour has been the gift of a lifetime. It’s been a journey that we’ll always look back on, as one of the most informative and fulfilling experiences of our lives. I think there has been a question mark there for all of us. In part because people started to ask us so much about the future and our reaction is, ‘Well, let’s talk about the here and now.’ Which is important to us.”
If that’s not enough proof, Jared’s brother and 30 Seconds to Mars drummer Shannon Leto chimed in, adding, “We’ve never said this is ‘the end.’” So, all of Jared’s ardent female fans can rest easy the hair color-changing, indie rock heartthrob isn’t going anywhere.
Jared, Shannon and the rest of the band wrapped up their two-year, 300-plus date “This is War” world tour in December of 2011, which broke the Guinness Book of World Records for “Longest Concert Tour by a Rock Band.” Jared said the tour was the experience of a lifetime: “Over two years we’ve been pursuing this quest, travelling every continent besides one, playing over 300 shows, winning and losing and fighting and being at peace.”
