Creed take ‘My Own Prison’ and ‘Human Clay’ albums on the road
Post-grunge linchpins Creed commemorate 15 years of their debut album, “My Own Prison,” in 2012, and it’s a landmark that Scott Stapp and the men plan to celebrate. In honor of the milestone, the band have booked a short North American tour in April and May, which will have the band playing “My Own Prison” and the follow-up album, “Human Clay,” in their entirety during intimate showings around the country.
“My Own Prison” went 6X platinum while “Human Clay” was certified 11X platinum and, eventually, diamond, by the RIAA, so celebrating is certainly in order. The run begins with back-to-back performances at the Chicago Theatre on April 13 and 14 and continues through May 21 and 22 in Kansas City, Mo. Find tour dates, below.
Most of the shows on the itinerary take place at cozy theaters, and while that’s different from the arena-sized aesthetic upon which Creed built their name, it’s a change the guys enjoy. Chatting with Audio Ink Radio, Creed and Alter Bridge guitarist Mark Tremonti explained that he likes switching up the size and type of venues the band plays. Different venues have their own unique benefits. “I like a good mix of them. It’s good to play the huge arena and big outdoors festivals, but it’s also pretty intense to do small club and have a crowd right up in your face,” he said. “So, it’s just good to mix it up.” (Courtesy photo via Wind-Up Records.)
