Evanescence are well on their way to releasing the music video for their latest single, “My Heart is Broken.” The song comes off the band’s self-titled, third studio album, which entered the Billboard 200 charts a sky-high No. 1 last fall.
The full video for “My Heart is Broken” will premiere Jan. 24 on Vevo, but until then, the band are treating fans to a special, 27-second sneak peek of the upcoming video. Director Dean Karr, who has worked with such grand rock and metal performers as Queens of the Stone Age and Ozzy Osbourne, shot the video. Watch the teaser clip, below.
Late last year, Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee exclusively told Audio Ink Radio that she was gunning for “My Heart is Broken” to be the Arkansas outfit’s follow-up single to “What You Want,” so her wish was granted. “Finding the right single is a different thing,” Lee explained. “We can write songs all day without pressure, but when it comes to picking a single, it’s more a decision of, ‘How are we going to reach the masses? Which song is going to make the most people turn up the station?’ I think it’s a hard choice.”
Lee also said that audience reaction to the goth-inspired band’s new songs on their latest tour helped decide the next single. “It’s really hard for us to choose [a single], especially now that we’re starting to playing the songs live and starting to hear fan reactions and are seeing which ones really go over well,” she said. “It’s hard, because sometimes it’s not ones you would expect.” (Photo: Evanescence via YouTube.)
