Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl Records Song with Stone Sour’s Corey Taylor
Dave Grohl teams with Corey Taylor for a forthcoming track
Earlier this month, it came out that Dave Grohl — hte legendary singer for grunge group Foo Fighters and former drummer of Nirvana — was recording a track with vocalist Stephen Pearcy and guitarist Warren DeMartini of ‘80s hair metal band Ratt. As if that weren’t random enough, now Grohl is working with Stone Sour and Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor on a tune!
Taylor tweeted his enthusiasm for the pairing earlier this week: “HUGE checks off the Bucket List today — did a song with Dave Grohl and Butch Vig… “Pearcy let the news out regarding his collaboration with Grohl via Twitter earlier this month: “Warren and I are recording an original song for a project for Dave. He’s way cool and we’re ready to go… We’ll let [Dave] tell you about when he’s ready, kidz. [It’s not a track] for a RATT record.” Who will be next in Grohl’s lineage of random band mates?
The fact Butch Vig is recording these tracks is no shocker. In December of 2011, Grohl posted a “thank you” note to fans on the Foos’ official website, and he praised Vig for his production work on the band’s No. 1-charting album, “Wasting Light”: “… Most of all, we wanted [the album] to sound huge: That’s why we decided to use Butch Vig. His role in this whole experience is huge, and he deserves a great ‘thanks’, too. Not many producers would accept the challenge that we handed him. He’s the best, for sure. Together, we made the album of a lifetime. Again.”
Grohl went on to say that the Foos are, “not finished yet. There are still more shows to play, more songs to write, more albums to record, for years to come. I mean…..If you would have told me 17 years ago that in 2012 I would be writing songs for our 8th studio album….well….. If it weren’t for you guys, we wouldn’t be here.”
