Ed Kowalczyk Readying New Album Featuring R.E.M. Guitarist Peter Buck
R.E.M.’s Peter Buck makes an appearance on Ed Kowalczyk’s upcoming solo album, ‘The Flood and the Mercy’
Former Live singer Ed Kowalczyk is set to release his second studio album, “The Flood and the Mercy,” on Oct. 29, and the set features a collection of high-profile players. R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck and singer-songwriter Rachael Yamagata both accompany Kowalczyk on the set, with production by Jamie Candiloro (R.E.M., Ryan Adams, Willie Nelson) and mixing by Tom Lord Alge (Rolling Stones, Peter Gabriel, Santana).
“I’m really blessed to have Peter and Rachael on this album,” Kowalczyk said in a statement. “It definitely feels serendipitous to have this caliber of guest musicians at this pivotal moment for me as a relatively new solo artist. ‘Holy Water Tears’ with Rachael singing on it is such a special moment for me in my career. It doesn’t feel like a ‘duet’ to me. There is more of a union of voices and personas than a typical duet.”
He added that “The Flood and the Mercy” marks a new chapter in Kowlczyck’s career. “I definitely feel as if I’ve moved forward in a major way in terms of my songwriting and singing on this record,” he said.
Kowalczyk is also heading out on the road in support of “The Flood and the Mercy.” His upcoming tour kicks off Oct. 24 at the Center for Arts in Natick in Natick, Mass. For a full list of tour dates, visit Kowalczyk’s official website.
