John Dolmayan and Shavo Odadjian from System of a Down are working on new music together
When will System of a Down fans get new music from the guy? While there’s no specific word on a new System album, two of the band’s members have indicated they’re working on something new together.
On his Instagram account, drummer John Dolmayan posted an image of bass player Shavo Odadjian rocking a guitar. The photo’s caption reads, “Great song ideas flowing from a very strong song writer. Stay tuned.”
In other System of a Down news, guitarist Daron Malakian will release a new album with his band Scars on Broadway, named “Dictator,” which will drop on July 20.
As for that new System of a Down album, the crew hasn’t released an album since 2005’s “Hypnotize.” But, they plan to release something fresh down the road. Speaking in an interview with Rolling Stone late last year, frontman Serj Tankian said the great has been working on new material here and there, but “still haven’t come eye to eye on how things should be done for us to be able to move forward with it.”
With or without new music, System of a Down is keeping busy on the road. The band will kick off a short U.S. tour in October. One of the dates is Aftershock Festival, which is set for Oct. 13 and 14. Aftershock will also feature headlining performances from Alice in Chains and Deftones.
