Bon Jovi Announce Details for New Album, ‘2020’

Bon Jovi will release the band’s long-awaited new album, “2020,” on Oct. 2

Bon Jovi’s new album finally has a release date. After the release of the new album was postponed due to coronavirus (COVID-19), Jon Bon Jovi and company have announced their new album, called “2020,” will arrive Oct. 2.

The track list for “2020” is a bit different than the original track list for the set. The song “Do What You Can” was added to the album late, as was “American Reckoning,” which is the song Bon Jovi released a few weeks ago in response to the murder of George Floyd by four Minneapolis police officers.

“I was moved to write ‘American Reckoning’ as a witness to history,” Jon Bon Jovi said in a statement when the song was released. “I believe the greatest gift of an artist is the ability to use their voice to speak to issues that move us.”

Bon Jovi and Island Records are donating all proceeds from downloads of “American Reckoning” through the end of the year to Bryan Stevenson’s Equal Justice Initiative.

All the songs on “2020” were penned either by Jon or by Jon alongside longtime collaborators John Shanks and Billy Falcon.

Bon Jovi’s world tour in support of “2020” was canceled earlier this year, with Jon explaining that he wanted to cancel the tour instead of postpone it, to allow fans to get refunds for their tickets now. The band is expected to announce new tour dates next year.
