Billy Howerdel of A Perfect Circle will release his debut solo album, “What Normal Was,” this summer

A Perfect Circle guitarist and co-founder Billy Howerdel has announced that his debut solo album, “What Normal Was,” will hit stores on June 10 via Alchemy Recordings/Rise Records/BMG. In addition to the new album news, Howerdel has released a video for his solo single “Poison Flowers,” produced by Rizz, featuring an “aural and visual preview of what’s to come” on the new set.

“This is me stepping back into my early teen self and making the record I would’ve made if I had the means and the knowledge when I first picked up a guitar—just in 2022,” Howerdel said in a statement. “It’s that moment as a kid when you hear a record, close your eyes, and go somewhere else. That was the time I found my lane, so to speak.”

On top of the new album news, Howerdel has also announced a summer tour, beginning June 11 in Ventura, California. The six-week trek run will also feature some festival dates, such as a performance at Milwaukee’s Summerfest, and two shows with Puscifer, the band fronted by Howerdel’s A Perfect Circle band mate Maynard James Keenan. Tickets for all headlining shows go on sale Friday (April 29) at 10 a.m. local time. For more information, head to BillyHowerdel.com.
