A Perfect Circle tour: The band will hit the road with Puscifer and Primus for a short spring 2024 trek

Maynard James Keenan keeps busy fronting not one, not two but three bands: Tool, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer. Now, Keenan is taking two of those bands on the road in honor of his 60th birthday. The vocalist has announced that A Perfect Circle and Puscifer will embark on a short spring 2024 tour with support from Les Claypool-fronted Primus.

The trek, called “Sessanta,” will start on Keenan’s birthday (April 17) with a show at the Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre in Phoenix, Arizona. Moreover, from there, the tour will hit a few markets and wrap up with a two-night stand April 25 and 26 at the celebrated Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado. What makes these shows extra special is that they also mark A Perfect Circle’s first live performances since 2018. Coincidentally, this year also marks the 20th anniversary of the band’s seminal “Thirteenth Step” album, which dropped on Sept. 16, 2003. General tickets are on sale starting Friday (Sept. 15). Further, view the full roster of forthcoming tour dates below.

“It took some massaging, and some long days in rehearsal, but we managed to seamlessly pull off this three-song rotation at Cinquanta, my 50th birthday shows, at The Greek Theatre in 2014,” Keenan said in a press release. “Bands aren’t used to simultaneously sharing the stage with other bands, but if anyone can do it, it’s Primus, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer.”

Moreover, a press release explains what to expect from the upcoming shows. “Sessanta’s unique format sees the musicians from the trio of bands joining each other’s performances throughout the concert,” the releases states. “While each group will have their own distinctive set, the players will continually transform as the night unfolds.”

Before hitting the road on “Sessanta,” Keenan will be with Tool for a fall 2023 North American tour. That jaunt sets off Oct. 3 in Loveland, Colorado. Before then, Tool will also headline Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Kentucky, on Sept. 22. View Tool’s lengthy roster of upcoming tour dates here.

Keenan often seems to focus on his projects separately, so it’s different to see him bringing A Perfect Circle and Puscifer out together on the same tour. Perhaps one day, Keenan will book a tour featuring A Perfect Circle, Puscifer and Tool. Of course, that would make it a triple performance for Keenan every night, which might be difficult. But, a triple-Maynard tour will likely go over very well with the fans. For now, it appears Maynard fans will have to settle with the A Perfect Circle, Puscifer tours and Tool tours separately.
