Rage Against the Machine Vocalist Zack de la Rocha Injures Leg During Show
Zack de la Rocha of Rage Against the Machine injured his leg during a recent gig on the band’s reunion tour
We’re not sure if it’s because the guys of Rage Against the Machine are older than they were in the ’90s, or if they haven’t played shows in a minute and are still getting used to it, but Rage Against the Machine lead vocalist Zack de la Rocha injured his leg onstage during the group’s second night of their 2022 “Public Service Announcement” reunion tour. The show took place in Chicago on Monday (June 11), and both Consequence of Sound/Heavy Consequence and Blabbermouth are reporting the painful incident. Rage Against the Machine kicked off their first concert in 11 years two nights prior, in East Troy, Wisconsin, with no, well, injuries to report.
During the Chicago gig, de la Rocha seemed to get injured during a performance of Rage Against the Machine’s 1992 single “Bullet in the Head,” only four songs into their set at United Center, according to Consequence correspondent Allen Halas. View fan-filmed footage of the performance below.
After getting injured, de la Rocha was helped off stage by members of the band’s crew. He came back shortly after to perform the rest of the set, sitting. Then, according to Consequence, de la Rocha said to the audience, “I don’t know what happened to my leg right now, but you know what? We’re gonna keep this f***in’ s*** goin’. If I have to crawl across this stage. We’re gonna play for y’all tonight. We came too f***in’ far.”
In other news, last month, Rage Against the Machine displayed their support for women’s healthcare and reproductive rights by donating funds to that cause following the Supreme Court overturning Americans’ federal right to abortion. The move overturned a ruling that had been in place since Roe v. Wade in 1973. At their concerts, Rage have also featured pro-choice statements and statistics on their stage backdrop.
