Rage Against the Machine Cancel European Tour ‘Per Medical Guidance’
Rage Against the Machine have canceled their 2022 U.K./European tour, but the band’s 2023 U.S. run is a still a go
Rage Against the Machine have pulled the plug on their upcoming U.K./European tour “per medical guidance” due to injured singer Zack de la Rocha. The vocalist hurt his leg during the band’s concert July 11th in Chicago, which marked the second show of the “Public Service Announcement Tour.”
Rocha has been performing sitting down ever since injuring his leg. According to a statement via the band’s official Twitter account, Rage Against the Machine’s final show of 2022 was Sunday (Aug. 14) at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The U.K./European tour was scheduled to start later this month and close out in September.
“Per medical guidance, Zack de la Rocha has been advised that the August and September 2022 UK and European leg of the Rage Against the Machine tour cannot proceed,” the statement reads. “It is with great disappointment that we announce this cancellation. Rage Against the Machine will be finishing their run at Madison Square Garden on August 11, 12 & 14 and then Zack must return home for rest and rehabilitation. The flights, travel time, and rigorous schedule in the UK and Europe are simply too much of a risk for a complete recovery.”
The statement adds, “We are so sorry to all of our fans who have waited years to see us and hope to Rage again soon. Please contact your point of purchase for refunds to any headline shows.”
As of now, Rage Against the Machine’s 2023 North American tour dates are on the books. The band is slated to tour with Run the Jewels, with the trek setting off Feb. 22 in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and running through April 2 in Detroit. View the group’s social media statement below.
