Here are the 10 most-played songs on rock radio for 2022, according to Mediabase

While streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music are all the rage in 2022, traditional radio is still a strong force. When it comes to new music, many music fans still discover new artists and songs through radio airplay.

So, which rock artists ruled the airwaves in 2022? The list features a collection of familiar names, as well as a few new ones. According to the list of songs played on rock radio played throughout 2022 via MediaBase, the No. 1 song most played on rock radio for 2022 was Three Days Grace with “So Called Life.” While Three Days Grace may be considered a newer band for classic rock fans, they’ve been around for more than two decades, so they certainly aren’t new to rock radio.

Coming in at No. 2 is a newer name in Jelly Roll with “Dead Man Walking.” Then, the legacy acts kick in, as the Red Hot Chili Peppers are No. 3 with “Black Summer.” The single marked the Peppers’ first new song with longtime guitarist John Frusciante back in the fold following a decade-long absence.

MediaBase’s numbers were ranked going by the total number of plays the songs received from January through December of 2022. These songs didn’t have to be released in 2022, as some of them were released in 2021. Mediabase is a music industry service that monitors radio station airplay in the U.S. and Canada.
