New Slipknot Album Doesn’t Sound Like Slipknot, Corey Taylor Says
The new Slipknot album is very experimental and doesn’t really sound like the band, says vocalist Corey Taylor
There’s a new Slipknot album on the way called “Look Outside Your Window.” The record is an experimental album that’s been in the works, on and off, for a long time. Over the past year, both Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor and percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan have talked about the set.
In a new interview, Taylor discusses the album, which the guys actually started crafting 15 years ago. Now, he says he thinks it will finally arrive in 2024. According to Taylor, one of the biggest issues with the new release has been Taylor’s jam-packed release schedule. He has a new solo album, “CMF2,” due out on Sept. 15 and a tour after that.
Taylor tells NME of the lost album, “I was talking to Clown about it the other day and he goes, ‘One of the reasons it hasn’t come out is because you keep putting s*** out which keeps conflicting with when I want to release it!’ I was like, ‘F*** dude, why didn’t you tell me?’ He says, ‘F***, Taylor – you just got too much s***!'”
Taylor went on to discusses a timeline for the release, explaining, “It’s sounding like he’s got a release date that he can finally lock in and I have promised him that I won’t release anything that will ruin that. I think it’s going to be next year – finally, man.”
So, what should fans expect from this new Slipknot album? Something very unique, according to Taylor.
“I just went back and listened to all that stuff, and it’s so dope and so different,” he said. “People going into this thinking it sounds like ‘Slipknot’ are so wrong. It doesn’t sound like anything Slipknot have ever done, that’s why it’s its own thing. To me, it really is the long-lost album. The music is so beautiful, it probably has some of my favorite melodies that I’ve done, and people are really going to dig it. Clown did a really good job.”
