Each year, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announces its new class. Like clockwork, when that news breaks, rock and metal fans are always in an uproar. Some of the biggest names in heavy music have never been inducted into the Rock Hall. Some of those names include Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne. Slayer, Dio, Motorhead, Pantera and Motley Crue, to name a few. That’s why there’s the Metal Hall of Fame, which honors the heaver side of music. Let’s face it. The Rock Hall honors all music, so it’s not so much a “rock hall” as it is a “music hall.” Well, the Metal Hall of Fame has announced its 2024 inductees. The list doesn’t disappoint when it comes to pure heavy metal music.

The seventh annual Metal Hall of Fame gala is set for Jan. 24, 2024 at the Marriott Delta hotel in Garden Grove, California. Hosting the event will be rock media personalities Eddie Trunk and Cathy Rankin. The show will also feature a special 40th-anniversary induction for Trunk. Expect “surprise guests, live music performances and an all-star jam,” according to a press release.

“The 2024 annual Metal Hall Of Fame gala is going to be another exciting night, with some legendary artists performing and sharing some great stories,” Metal Hall Of Fame president Pat Gesualdo said in a statement.

The 2024 Metal Hall Of Fame inductees will include Eddie Trunk (special 40th anniversary induction); Mick Mars of Motley Crue; Sebastian Bach (inducted by Wendy Dio)’ Tim “Ripper” Owens of KK’S Priest, Judas Priest and Iced Earth; Carlos Cavazo of Quiet Riot; Penelope Spheeris, producer and director of “Decline Of Western Civilization” and “Wayne’s World”; Mikeal Maglieri of the Whisky A Go Go and Rainbow Bar & Grill; Cleopatra Records; and Biohazard. The Metal Hall will honor each of those inductees in some special way during the ceremony. It’s great to see the Metal Hall reach outside of simply musicians to honor media personalities, such as Trunk, and venue owners, such as Maglieri. These people all have a hand in keeping the music alive.

The Metal Hall Of Fame, according to a release, is a “non-profit organization dedicated to forever enshrining the iconic musicians and music industry executives responsible for making hard rock and heavy metal music what it is today.” All of the proceeds from Metal Hall of Fame events go to “preserving hard rock and heavy metal music for future generations, and also bring free music programs to help special needs children and wounded veterans in health facilities and community centers.” Getting metal music to the next generation is such an important cause.

The annual Metal Hall of Fame celebrity gala always takes place in January. The Hall also has special events throughout the year. This year’s gala promises to honor “legendary musicians, bands, and industry influencers who have left an indelible mark on the world of metal. With a lineup of iconic performers, thrilling live performances, and unforgettable moments, this event promises to be a headbanger’s paradise.” For more information of the Metal Hall of Fame ceremony and to purchase tickets, go here.
