Ska punk band Sublime With Rome have announced that they will part ways by the end of 2024. Vocalist Rome Ramirez, in a press release, announced that he’s leaving the band. In essence, that will pretty much mark the end of the group. Here’s the Sublime with Rome breakup scoop.

In the statement, Ramirez said, “After almost two remarkable decades, I am announcing my departure from Sublime with Rome at the close of 2024. The upcoming performances over the next year will allow us to reflect on countless incredible memories together! Over the last 2 years I’ve been spending countless hours pouring my soul into my solo music, and the excitement to share these songs with you is building up! I’ve got some really big news that I can’t drop yet. Just wait!”

He added, “Singing and playing guitar for this iconic band has been a lifetime opportunity and just flat out, absolutely epic. Carrying on the Sublime legacy has been a trust I’ll forever cherish. This is only the beginning…”

Sublime With Rome first formed in 2009 and brought together Ramirez and classic Sublime members Eric Wilson on bass and Bud Gaugh on drums. They performed Sublime songs live and released their debut studio album together, “Yours Truly,” in 2011. Since then, there have been quite a few lineup changes. The most recent incarnation of the group was Ramirez, Wilson and drummer Joe Tomino. Moreover, in December, the band welcomed surviving Sublime members onto the stage to perform a gig with late singer Bradley Nowell’s son Jakob. The three performed eight Sublime songs at a Los Angeles benefit for Bad Brains singer H.R.

In total, Sublime With Rome released three albums of original music. Their latest studio release arrive in 2019, “Blessings.” The set was produced by Rob Cavallo, who has worked with Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park and more. But, they did just release new music, as last month, the band released a new EP called “Tangerine Skies.” Watch the music video for the title track off Sublime With Rome’s recent single “Tangerine Skies” below.

The decision to end Sublime With Rome appears to clear the path for Wilson and Gaugh to play more shows with Jakob Nowell. The three performed eight classic Sublime songs at a Los Angeles benefit for Bad Brains singer H.R. on December 11th. Of course, some of Sublime’s biggest hits of the ’90s were “Wrong Way,” “Santeria,” “Badfish,” “What I Got,” “Caress Me Down” and “40oz to Freedom.”

While the news of a band breaking up is never a good thing (well, almost never), Sublime With Rome aren’t finished yet. Even with the Sublime with Rome breakup news, they’ll play all of their scheduled 2024 concerts. Right now, they have a string of tour dates in February and April.

Sublime were never really a punk band, but they were often classified as ska punk. They aren’t the only band be be called punk that some think didn’t fit the bill. Find 10 punk bands that fans say aren’t punk band here.
