Slipknot are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their famed 1999 self-titled record with a bevy of tour dates. So far, Corey Taylor and the crew have announced the U.K. and European leg of a 2024 tour, and North American dates are pending. So, what will Slipknot perform on their 25th anniversary tour? My guess is that they’ll perform that self-title album from front to back. I mean, it’s an anniversary tour. Why not play the record and give the people what they want?

What Will Slipknot Perform on Their 25th Anniversary Tour?

Now, in a new interview, longtime Slipknot percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan says that Slipknot, indeed, will perform the record in its entirety. He also says the the band may perform some mall club shows on the upcoming tour, too.

Kerrang! asked Clown if the band will perform the record in full. He replied, “Are you joking right now? You’re talking about the anniversary of one of the greatest metal albums to ever release in the thought process known as reality… You think for one moment that this album isn’t going to be played in its entirety in front of, like, a hundred people, 200 people, 300 people, 50,000 people. I’m not going to live forever, man. Neither is everybody else. Things are changing very quickly. I ain’t got no more time to f*** around.”

Then, Clown let out the news that the band might play more intimate venues. “We’re going to have fun, too. So that means small shows and you won’t know until you hear it. And if you heard it, you’re already too late and you’re not going to see it. So you better open up your soul, because then you’ll feel it and you won’t have to hear it, because I’m being very serious.”

He added, “It’s really going to be an exciting 2024, and I think things are going to happen that you wouldn’t think ever could.”

When Will Slipknot Retire?

So, when will Slipknot retire? Don’t worry, fans. Clown makes it sound like the guys are going to be around for a long time. I can’t imagine these guys retiring anytime soon. After all, the Rolling Stones are still out there.

Of retirement, Clown said, “Sometimes I’m scared to think that I’ll be 70, pretending to myself that I’m going to slam while playing the song ‘(sic).’ But the crazy thing is, you and I both know that it’s possible. I don’t know exactly what it looks like, but if I get there, I will have worked it out in my own self and I will work out what it means to the unit, as will everybody else – however it is and whoever it is. But the point is, that’s the gift. We just have this thing that I’m really blessed to be a part of.”

Slipknot’s 25th anniversary dates for the U.K. and Europe are set for December 2024. They also have a handful of U.S. festivals schedule in 2024, including Sick New World, Welcome to Rockville and Sonic Temple. Find all of the band’s upcoming tour dates here.

Slipknot are also working on new music, when Taylor insists doesn’t sound anything like Slipknot.
