Foster the People to Take ‘Pumped up Kicks’ on the Road in 2012
Foster the People confirm 2012 tour dates
Perhaps no alternative rock band ruled 2011 quite as much as Foster the People. Following the release of their debut full-length, Torches, the Los Angeles guys scored a 3x platinum single in the contagious, “Pumped Up Kicks,” and continued on with three headlining North American tours. Now, Mark Foster and his crew are up for two major Grammys: Best Alternative Album and Best Pop / Duo Group Performance.
With the band’s latest singles, “Helena Beat,” and, “Don’t Stop (Color on the Walls),” also penetrating the alternative rock charts, it looks like 2012 can bring nothing but more indie pop goodness from Foster the People, and the first hint of that is the band’s just-announced spring 2012 North American tour.
The jaunt has Foster the People playing, alternately, alongside by the Kooks, Tokyo Police Club and Mayer Hawthorne & County. The Kooks, a much-hyped indie rock group out of England, are openers that really have fans buzzing. Shows start with back-to-back nights at Rumsey Playfield in New York’s Central Park May 29 and 30 and go right up until July 7 in Las Vegas. By the way, have you ever wondered about the meaning behind, “Pumped up Kicks?” Find out what Foster the People have to say about it, here.
