MxPx Frontman Mike Herrera Explains Title of the Band’s New Album
MxPx officially announce the title of their upcoming release
Longstanding underground punk rock act MxPx have finally come up with a name for their ninth studio album: Plans within Plans. According to singer Mike Herrera, it took a while to finally pin down a name, and he felt Plans within Plans got across the idea of the “mayhem” that went into recording sessions.
“I struggled with this album title for a long time,” Herrera said on MxPx’s official website. “I had been recording this album between tours and booking tours, studio sessions, and trying to live somewhat of a normal life. Life got in the way of that…”
Herrera went on to explain that Plans Within Plans was, “the only way I could describe all the mayhem that was going on behind the scenes of putting this collection of brand new songs together. I was and still am literally flying off the rails trying to juggle all the jobs that need doing to keep this ship afloat. I’m the captain going down with the ship.. but just maybe we’ll make to land before we all drown.”
MxPx’s latest release is 2009’s Left Coast Punk EP, which is on Rock City Recording. Their last full-length, Secret Weapon, arrived in 2007 on Seattle music label Tooth & Nail Records. Only time will tell when Plans within Plans will drop, but Herrera promises more updates in the coming weeks. In the meantime, Tooth & Nail recently released a Triple Shot, 3-CD set of three key MxPx albums: Pokinatcha, Teenage Politics and Life In General.
