Fred Durst is free of label ties in 2012

Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst is banking on 2012 being his big year. Last year, the rap-rocker released a record on Interscope, “Gold Cobra,” only to get dropped from the label a few months later. The guys played festivals and various club dates, but they canceled a number of shows, as well.

Durst is ready to change all that drama. Free from what he deems as label constraints, the always-unpredictable rhymer has released an online message explaining his ambitious 2012 plans, including putting out the much-anticipated follow-up to their 2005 EP, “The Unquestionable Truth, Part 1.”

“LB is joining forces w the unexpected to bring you our best material yet in 2012,” he stated. “’Gold Cobra’ was for the core and our farewell to the corrupt machine. The Unquestionable Truth pt 2 and Stampede of the Disco Elephants are for the masses in ways which are indescribable through text.”

He added that shedding a major label was thoroughly cathartic: “We finally feel like ourselves again with no restraints and boundaries preventing us from being who we truly are as a band. The ride thus far has been nothing less than a true rock and roll journey.

“We are grateful for every moment and bid the most sincere farewell to those we will now leave behind. LB will start releasing new material unethically and affectively as soon as the deals are signed and sealed in January as attorneys start their holiday vacations months before the holidays even begin. And btw, our video POOP will finally find its way in its entirety to your eyeballs soon enough.”

Wish I could believe this but as a long time Bizkit fan, it’s very hard too. It’s a shame to say but I personally think Limp Bizkit are dead. Fred’s lyrics in Cobra were just awful (apart from Walking away: one of the best). Also, Fred has more movie shit to do in 2012, meaning no music.

To conclude, don’t get your hopes up….
