‘Rock Band Blitz’ video game track list to feature 25 popular rock, alternative and pop songs

Hey, gamers– there’s a new kid on the block. Harmonix, the brand behind the now-famous “Rock Band” video game name, announced Tuesday (April 3) that they will be unleashing a new video game named “Rock Band Blitz” for Xbox Live Arcade and PSN. In “Rock Band” tradition, the game will offer tracks from some significant names from the alternative and rock worlds.

According to Joystiq, “Rock Band Blitz” will feature 25 songs in its initial launch. The early track list includes Foster the People’s “Pumped up Kicks,” Blink-182’s “Always,” Rick Springfield’s “Jessie’s Girl,” Quiet Riot’s “Bang Your Head” and more. The full game is expected to arrive this summer.

In other Foster the People news, lead singer Mark Foster recently told NME that the alternative pop-rockers are in the process of fleshing out ideas for a new album. Expect the new set to drop in 2013, with a new track possibly arriving even earlier. “Hopefully we’ll have a song or two out by the end of the year,” Foster said. “I’d like to get the album done pretty quickly but we’re not going to put something out until it’s ready. I’d say in 2013 it’ll be out.”

Foster the People’s previous album, 2011’s “Torches,” took them from underground alt-pop sensations to national superstars, buoyed by the No. 1 single that wouldn’t go away in “Pumped up Kicks.” The band kicks off their much-anticipated 2012 North American tour in late May.
